DIXIE HUMMINGBIRDS LEGACY KEPT ALIVE by Ira Tucker, Jr., son of Ira Tucker, Sr. who launched a wonderful celebration. Hosted by Ira and Louise Tucker and LaDEVA Davis, "THE STUDIO" in Northern Liberties was the scene of the CD release luncheon and the champagne celebration toasting Ira Tucker's 86th birthday and his 70 year illustrious career. The CD titled GOSPEL PRAISE SONGS dedicated to gospel gems of The Golden Gate Quartet, The Soul Stirrers, The Pilgrim Travelers, The Sensational Nightingales, the CBS Trumpeteers and The Harmonizing Four are featured and includes the harmony from students attending the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts. Philly International icon Bunny Sigler displayed his rendition of "I'm Going Home on The Morning Train. The Ira and Louise Tucker Preservation Foundation is designed to assist veteran quartet singers. and to encourage students to revitalize this vocal art form. Ira Tucker, Sr. passed away in June 2008. He was the lead singer and Master Artist for the Dixie Hummingbirds Gospel Quartet and we applaud his son Ira Tucker, Jr. for keeping his legacy alive.
